A defining characteristic of smart street lighting and power line carrier communication industries is that the electronics of one system usually exist as a product family: street light concentrators, single lamp controllers, power supply boards, wireless core boards, carrier modules, and more. A single project may require over a dozen types of PCBA to work in tandem. For procurement teams, the biggest headache is not the manufacturing difficulty of a single board, but the coordination challenges below:
This is why the complete turnkey delivery model gains growing traction: one supplier covers the full workflow from PCBA fabrication to finished product shipment, managing materials, processes, testing and after-sales services. Clients only need a single point of contact to cut cross-vendor management overhead.
Our turnkey capabilities for smart street light controllers cover the whole value chain:
The core strength of this system lies in horizontal process coverage + vertical workflow integration. We can manufacture multi-variant products with different processes within one production system, while enabling full traceability and testing from raw material receipt to finished goods outbound.
We delivered full turnkey services for a leading domestic smart street lighting solution provider: 7 variants of street light concentrator PCBA + 4 variants of single lamp controller PCBA, covering carrier modules, wireless core boards and power boards. The project included procurement of electronic components, mechanical parts, harnesses and packaging materials, SMT/DIP assembly, bare board testing, final assembly and finished product validation. The setup supports annual mass volume from thousands to tens of thousands of sets.
Key engineering highlights from this project:Power line carrier communication module portfolioWe support single-phase / three-phase narrowband PLC (132/666/2132kHz), broadband HPLC dual-mode and G3 carrier, including CCO concentrator modules and data collectors for smart meter reading and grid data acquisition. Selected products are manufactured in compliance with FCC requirements. Our G3 dual-mode CCO concentrator module features precision 0402 component placement plus DIP assembly of large-capacity electrolytic capacitors, using a 2×4 panelisation design for power AMR master station communication.
Assembly of multiple matched PCBA typesConcentrators and single lamp controllers integrate many internal boards with varied dimensions. Boards of different process routes must be scheduled, tested, kitted and then assembled within the same delivery window. This differentiates product-family delivery from single-board manufacturing: it is not about making one board well, but synchronising the whole product family to hit a unified delivery rhythm.
Protection & packagingStreet light controllers operate outdoors for long service life. Potting and encapsulation are mandatory circuit protection measures. Heavy-duty reinforced packaging mitigates damage risks during long-distance transit, which is standard for our turnkey delivery.
Complete turnkey delivery also covers post-production engineering support. Once deployed on-site, units may require firmware updates, component replacement or batch maintenance. We completed a batch rework project of over 4,600 units of NEMA single lamp controllers: following controlled work instructions, our team removed clock sub-boards, soldered H-boards, verified component resistance values, flashed firmware (V1.6 / V1.8), programmed UID and implemented software upgrades. We built a full quality closure covering execution, inspection and record archiving.
A key lesson for procurement: when evaluating turnkey suppliers, do not only assess new product mass delivery capacity. You must verify their engineering capability for batch rework and firmware upgrades. Batch rework is far more than simple desoldering and rework. It requires standard SOP, firmware version control, traceable UID and upgrade logs, backed by mature quality management systems.
If you are sourcing a turnkey manufacturer for smart street lighting or power line carrier projects, verify these core capabilities:
Competition in the smart street lighting sector has evolved from individual PCBA hardware to full system delivery. Manufacturing partners who integrate material kitting, multi-board parallel scheduling, final assembly and post-production after-sales across one single value chain can help clients minimise project delivery risks.
Feel free to share your product family requirements for discussion. We can walk you through scheduling logic, rework closure frameworks and actual execution records of the 7+4 project.
